Here’s where the best ski conditions will be in the United States this winter
Whether you ski in the West, Midwest or the East this winter, you’ll be able to find good conditions somewhere.
Winter is just around the corner, and a new study says Boston is the most beautiful place to see it.
United Kingdom-based hotel chain Premier Inn released a new study about the most beautiful winter cities, and Boston came out on top for both the United States and the world.
The study was compiled using eye-tracking technology to monitor how long participants spent looking at images of various cities in winter.
Participants spent the most time fixating on images of Boston as opposed to other cities, the study found, which is why it was named the most beautiful winter city.
Here’s what to know.
Why is Boston the most beautiful winter city?
According to a new study from Premier Inn, Boston is the most beautiful winter city in the United States and the world. The United Kingdom-based hotel chain said in a release that it conducted the study by compiling a list of 72 cities that experience winter, then showing 100 worldwide participants a series of images of them during winter.
The study used eye-tracking software to measure the average length of time the participants spent looking at each image. The average fixation times were ranked from high to low for each city. Images of Boston were fixated on for the longest average time, making it the most beautiful winter city.
Boston had an average fixation time of 2.67 seconds, the highest of both U.S. and worldwide cities.
“The city’s colonial architecture takes on a nostalgic quality when covered in snow, while the Freedom Trail becomes a magical walking route,” the release said. “Boston Common and the Public Garden transform into winter wonderlands, and the Museum of Fine Arts offers warm halls filled with world-class art.”
What are the most beautiful winter cities in the world?
Other U.S. cities examined in the study include New York, New York, Salt Lake City, Utah, Washington, D.C. and Aspen Colorado. Here’s how they ranked:

- New York, New York: average fixation time of 2.16 seconds
- Salt Lake City, Utah: average fixation time of 1.99 seconds
