BLACKSBURG – After more than three weeks away from Lane Stadium, Virginia Tech football is back in Blacksburg for a primetime conference matchup. The Hokies are slated to host Boston College for Thursday night football on Oct. 17 with kickoff at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Hokies are celebrating their 30th anniversary of playing Thursday night football when Boston College comes to town. Tech’s first game was on Sept. 22, 1994, against West Virginia, with a commanding 34-6 victory in its inaugural appearance. Interestingly enough, the contest will mark the seventh time the two programs will face off on Thursday, tying the total against Georgia Tech. In the primetime matchups versus Boston College, the series record is split evenly, with the Hokies winning two of three home matchups. Overall, Virginia Tech has captured magic when playing on Thursday night, boasting a 24-12 record.
Tech football is brought to you this season on WESR by Onancock Building Supply, Bayside Rehab, HM Terry Company, Cape Charles Animal Hospital, Accomack & Northampton Farm Bureaus, Bundick Well & Pump Company and the Island House Restaurant.
