Rumours have circulated on social media that actor Robert De Niro would leave the United States when Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. The rumours began after a Facebook user, @The Patriots Network, claimed Niro fled the United States after witnessing a “massive red wave” over the country, following Trump’s victory in the election.
The user also shared a falsified quote of Niro saying, “Not worth living here now.”
Many social media users also reacted to the rumor.
One user on X said, “Robert De Niro must be criminal sues!”
Another user commented, “Robert De Niro is anti-American.”
“We’re all waiting for you to move and send a postcard…. please don’t come to Europe. Best for Robert De Niro would be to move to Canada, Australia or New Zealand.,” added a third user from X, formerly Twitter.
However the rumors of Niro leaving the nation are not true. The post included an image of the quote which had a warning, “This is a Fictional quote.”
The Patriots Network page’s publication follows a July 2024 article from Space X Mania, a website that covers similar spoof news.
The Space X Mania Article On Niro Criticising Trump
As per the parody article by the page, SpaceX Mania, the 81-year-old actor in an interview with CNN said, “If the 45th president returns to the White House, I will leave this country for good. I cannot stay in a place where such a person is in power. It’s a matter of principle and moral responsibility.”

The spoof page made use of the actor’s strong condemnation of President-elect Donald Trump. During an appearance on Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace in September 2024, Niro assured the presenter that if Trump won, he would never step down as president. When asked if he had met Trump, the actor responded, “No. I never wanted anything to do with him. He’s a jerk, an idiot. who wants to meet a clown like that?”
He then went on to term Trump as a “gangster” and described him as a person who “did not have the right intentions.”
