Previously, on Sept 1, Goose opened its Fall Tour at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, N.J., where they commenced a trend, performing first-time material with the debut arrival of “Draconian Meter Maid.” Written by new drummer Cotter Ellis, who also lent vocals on the tune, which morphed into a 17-minute monster during the late summer show. The band continued its jaunt, following up with the first of three nights at MGM Music Hall at Fenway in Boston, where they pulled out another first, this time a live debut of “One In, One Out.”

The aforementioned song is an original penned by Peter Anspach. It was first reported on in our concert recap, which tracked the onset of Goose’s current tour. Following night one in Bean Town, the ensemble continued its Northeastern reign with the arrival of their second evening at the revered venue, which picked up on Tuesday, Sept. 3. The concert featured another debut, the arrival of the Ellis associate tune, culled from his Vermont-based Swimmer band, with the first set “My Mind Has Been Consumed by Media” play.

Night two also birthed an unfinished “Echo of a Rose,” used as the latter frame’s pick-up. Notably, Goose concluded the remaining number during the final appearance at the Boston area venue on Wednesday, Sept. 4, capped by “Slow Ready,” the last song before the evening set break. Upon their return to the stage, Goose turned the venue into a disco tech made for grooving, with funk-laden “Thatch.”

A stretched-out “Creatures” morphed into the “Doobie Song” prior to the onset of Fat Freddy Drop’s “Fish in the Sea.” Instead of concluding the night while the fire was still hot, they stoked the flame on follow-ups, “726” into “Dripfield,” and eventually an encore of “ShamaLamma Ding Dong,” borrowed from Otis Day & The Knights.

With Goose’s Boston dates in the books, the band will take tonight, Thursday, Sept. 5, off before resuming their outing with the start of their two-night stand at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
