BOSTON (WHDH) – A 40-year-old former Boston teacher was arrested Thursday and charged with possessing and receiving child pornography, according to the US Attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Carter Peaseley, of Quincy, was involved in an online relationship with a 15-year-old. According to court paperwork, the relationship lasted a year, “during which he allegedly discussed wanting to teach the minor how to kiss.”
The paperwork goes on to say they “exchanged photographs which included sexually explicit photos of the minor.”
Peaseley was a former teacher at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics and Science and the Match Charter School, both of which are in Boston, the US Attorney’s office said.
About 243 images of child sexual abuse material were found on a computer and cellphone at Peaseley’s home, according to the US Attorney.
The affidavit reads, in part, “Peaseley instructed Minor A that if she thought her father was about to take her phone away, to text him the code word ‘cake’ letting him know he needs to delete everything off his phone.”
Her father ended up finding the messages on her cellphone, kicking off a nearly two-year investigation, authorities said.
His neighbors were surprised at the scene as the FBI pulled into their quiet Quincy neighborhood.
“We were like, ‘This is a little strange,’” neighbor Kelly Santilli said.
Peaseley was released on conditions including a curfew, electronic location monitoring, and an order not to have unsupervised contact with minors.
“Very uncomfortable because I, as a teacher, when they’re in my classroom, they’re always protected, and I would always want to protect any of the young kids even in the neighborhood to just be aware,” Santilli said. “Parents need to be vigilant and always watch for your children.”
