CN Rail crews are working to clear the scene after about a dozen rail cars carrying grain derailed near Boston Bar on Sunday morning.

Some of the cars crashed down the embankment and landed in the Fraser River.

CN Rail told Global News that the derailment involved a CPKC train and occurred due to a rock slide.

The company said there are no reports of injuries, fires or dangerous goods involved in the incident.

In a statement to Global News, the Transportation Safety Board said the train was travelling west on the CN Ashcroft Subdivision and derailed at about 12 p.m. at approximately mile 120.9. Boston Bar is at mile 125.5.

A total of 15 cars derailed, spilling some grain into the Fraser River, the TSB confirmed.

The company says it has not deployed investigators to the site, but it is continuing to follow up and the incident is still being assessed.

CN Rail said on Monday afternoon that crews worked through the night to safely clear the derailment area, including descaling remaining rocks and debris from the rockslide.

Work is underway to restore the track for train traffic later on Monday afternoon.
