College Football Week 1 Best Bets: Odds, Predictions to Consider on DraftKings Sportsbook for Boston College vs. Florida State

Julian Edlow gives his best bet on DraftKings Sportsbook for Boston College vs. Florida State.

We’ve got a fantastic slate of college football games to bet over Labor Day Weekend on DraftKings Sportsbook. That includes a Monday Night Football matchup in the ACC between BC and FSU. Let’s break the game down below.

At this point it’s the Eagles at +16.5 or pass for me, but this is the reason I bet this game a couple of months ago. I played BC +21.5 (-110) for 2-units back in min-June, anticipating some line movement. However, I didn’t quite think we’d be off a Seminoles’ outright loss to Georgia Tech in Ireland.

I’ve been down on FSU this season, with the idea there’s just too much to replace at key positions on both sides of the ball. Some would make the argument that the Jordan Travis loss at quarterback isn’t as big of a deal with the addition of DJ Uiagalelei — the one time Clemson QB who transfers over from Oregon State. I would make the argument the drop off is massive — and we kind of saw why in Week 0.

Georgia Tech played really well, and are probably better than we thought, but the explosiveness of the FSU offense just isn’t there. Boston College on the road probably won’t be able to limit FSU quite as well as the Yellow Jackets, but the Eagles do have quite a bit working in their favor.

Do I love that the Seminoles are out for revenge here after losing the opener? No, not really. When I played Georgia Tech last week I was hoping for a tight FSU win so this wasn’t a desperation spot, but a lot of the things we saw from that team did not look good. Now FSU had to travel internationally and get back home and get adjusted, all before flipping the switch from game planning for GT to game planning for BC.

Meanwhile, the Eagles has been game planning for FSU all summer. Bill O’Brien takes over the program, which should be a nice boost for an offense returning nine starters. One of those starters is the QB, Thomas Castellanos, who ran for over 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He was mistake-prone, but that’s where O’Brien should be able to make an impact. This might be a bit extreme, but I actually give the QB advantage to the Eagles in this game.

Between the travel, the time to prep, and FSU’s lack of explosiveness, I feel a well prepared BC team should hang on in this game and lose by less than three scores.
