Our expert Nets vs. Celtics same game parlay picks on FanDuel for NBA Friday Night

Must Read

The Boston Celtics will look to bounce back from their first home loss of the season when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Friday night. The oddsmakers are projecting a Boston blowout after they dropped a 118-112 decision on Friday night.

A hip injury will keep Jaylen Brown out of action for a fourth consecutive game on Friday. The 7-2 Celtics should still have enough to fend off the 4-4 Nets, but can they cover a 13-point spread?

Brooklyn had a projected Over/Under win total of 21.5 in the preseason on FanDuel Sportsbook. They have managed to win three of their last four games, though, and may be more competitive than the spread might indicate.

SGP Leg 1: Nets +13

Odds: -108 at FanDuel Sportsbook

I am certainly not suggesting that Boston will lose this game, even without Brown. The Celtics are doing a mostly capable job of handling his absence, as Neemias Queta has picked up more minutes and is making his presence felt as a defender and rebounder.

Brooklyn has performed better than expected so far in what was supposed to be a major and painful rebuilding project season in terms of wins and losses. The Nets may not be able to perform respectably for the full campaign, but they can stay close enough in this matchup.

Boston hasn’t won by more than 11 points in three of its last five victories. Brooklyn has shown it can stand up to prime opponents, taking Denver to overtime on Oct. 29, and the Celtics are a familiar rival. The Nets will be motivated enough to stay in the game and not get run off the court as the spread would indicate.

A 10-point Celtics win would seem to be a reasonable result. The visitors have displayed more tenacity than some may have foreseen so far, though, and Nic Claxton has returned from a hamstring injury while Ben Simmons is off the injury report after recovering from a back problem.

SGP Leg 2: Over 222 Points

Odds: -110 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Boston ranks second in the NBA in Offensive Rating, at 121.3 points per game. The Nets rank just outside the top 10, at 114.4.

The Celtics and their opponents have sailed past Friday’s projected total in eight of nine games. Brooklyn is middle of the pack in Defensive Efficiency, at 16th, per TeamRankings. That’s not enough of a marker to suggest that the Nets can contain Boston.

Brooklyn ranks 20th in opposing three-point field goal percentage in road games. Boston leads the NBA in three-pointers made (171).

SGP Leg 3: Jayson Tatum Over 30 Points

Odds: -105 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Tatum is averaging 30.2 points per game so far this season, which ranks third in the NBA. In the month of November, he has averaged 30.3 points in four games played.

In four of his last five games, Tatum has scored 29-plus points, and not less than 28 in any of the last five. Last season, the Celtics superstar averaged 29.0 points in four games vs. Brooklyn. All of the numbers indicated here point to him just needing a bucket or two more to hit on this leg of the parlay.

The Nets rank 25th in points per game allowed to small forwards, per FantasyPros. With Brown out, Tatum will pick up a bit more offensive slack in a good matchup.
