CINCINNATI (WXIX) -Christ Hospital in Cincinnati continues to partner with the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Care Collaborative in Boston to offer world-class cancer care to its patients.
Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Care Collaborative with Christ Hospital, which has been ongoing for three years, allows doctors to collaborate to produce the best patient outcomes.
“One of the things about cancer is that there are so many different parts of cancer care that one person can’t do it all. You really need a team, I think, to have Dana-Farber as part of that team. It really completes the whole circle of everything that we can do for the patient, which is there for them,” Medical Director of the Oncology Service Line at Christ Hospital Dr. Brian Mannion said.
According to U.S. News & World Report, the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center in Boston ranks among the top cancer centers in the nation, which is one of the reasons doctors with both hospitals say the collaboration works effectively.
“We have access to some of the unique treatments that Dana Farber has that maybe no one else in the country has,” Dr. Mannion said. The partnership allows patients at Christ Hospital to go to Boston to receive care if necessary.
The collaboration extends beyond patient care, as the two institutions also work together on various education and training programs for physicians and clinical staff.
“The partnership is a great example of how doctors can work together across the country and help to benefit each other in that process,” Radiation Oncologist with Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Center Dr. Shyam Tanguturi said.
Dr. Benjamin Schlechter, a Senior Physician at the Dana-Farber Brigham Cancer Institute, recommends that patients undergo screening. He emphasizes the importance of not ignoring any feelings of sickness or changes in one’s health.
