Nicole Gabe, who is coming from Fort Myers, Florida, debuted on air Tuesday.

Boston 25 News viewers were introduced to a new morning anchor Tuesday.

Nicole Gabe has joined the station from Fort Myers, Florida, where she was at WINK News for five years, according to a release.

“Her focus on telling the stories viewers need to see and her commitment to her community make her a great fit for our team,” Todd Brown, VP and general manager at Boston 25, said in a statement.

In a humorous video, Boston 25 morning anchor Gene Lavanchy and morning meteorologist Shiri Spear welcomed Gabe, who hails from Virginia and went to Virginia Tech, by teaching her the ins-and-outs of Massachusetts, including I-95 vs. Route 128, town pronunciations, and the Blizzard of ’78.

In July, Boston 25 hired Scott Isaacs as news director, at a time when the station was reportedly facing staff departures — including morning anchor Elizabeth Hopkins in April — cost-cutting measures, and struggling viewership. Isaacs came from NBC 10 WJAR in Providence and previously spent over a decade at WCVB in Boston.
